Review of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by Matthew P — 01 Jan 2013
They really do not make films like this anymore.
For me its success lies in its great characters and a game cast who get what the bearded ones (Berg and Lucas) were trying to do. Brilliant set pieces, terrfifc locations and a genuine sense of wonder, this flick has it all. Up front, Ford is pretty much perfect as our hero and when he is coupled up with Karen Allen the real fun begins. She is a really spirited presence in this film.
Comparing this against other flicks (The mummy flicks in particualr), even 30 years on, this one wins hands down and has stood the test of time.....
