When one combines George Lucas's nack for storytelling, Lawrence Kasdan's ear for playful banter, and Steven Spielberg's loving, enchanting direction, there is a good chance the product will be spectacular.
The film was promoted under the obvious tagline 'From the creators of Jaws and Star Wars", and few pictures have ever lived up to such an expectation so thoroughly. It also doesn't hurt to have Harrison Ford as your wise crackin', wip smackin' hero.
