Review of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by F B — 02 Jun 2015
It's fun, it's original and a trademark of an over the top action and adventure that you would not miss for a very long time. 1981 is the year where Spielberg together with Lucas, starts to build up an adventure that covers up treasure hunting and over the top pacing that everybody would adore.
They introduce Dr. Indiana Jones as a "whip splash cowboy treasure hunter" archaeologist in search for the Lost Ark of the Covenant that believe to exist somewhere in egypt. The Nazis are bending up their timing to get through that hole and leave the treasure as a gift to their Fuhrer.
Furthermore, Harrison Ford really shines as Dr. Indy with his manly appeal as he has a very "cowboyish" attitude. Tandem up with his leading lady Karen Allen and they are so fun to watch. This action and that John Williams score played in the background over and over again, it's just plain perfection of a musical score in a cinema.
Over the top yet truly a classic that became an iconic film and Indiana Jones is more likely the grand father of all "treasure hunting action" genre. Definitely a must have collection. 4 stars out of 5.
