Review of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by Steve B — 23 Nov 2012
An all time, family favorite and timeless classic in my opinion and one that never ceases to entertain me. A brilliantly acted story and adventure with all sorts of great, rememberable scenes. I really wish Spielberg used the same ingredients of Indiana Jones a college professor, donning his fedora and jacket and in every sequel going after another relic of fortune and glory! 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' re-attempted it I believe but nearly ruined it with the humourous Henry Jones character, making Indy seem diluted to what he is in this movie and appear silly and non-serious.
They did the same with 'Lethal Weapon'. Brilliant stunts, locations, sets, theme music and special effects of the time. I honestly can't pick this apart as it puts you right in the dusty adventure with Harrison Ford.
A few favourite scenes of mine, the map room, apprehending the truck and the opening of the ark.
