Review of Rai (1995) by Iiikatieiii : — 01 Feb 2010
Ray is the story of the life and career of singer Ray Charles, and as any other movie of its type, you will realize that his addiction and womanizer side are taking over the movie. But what's unique about Ray's story is that he went blind at the age of seven, which made him much more sensitive to voices, and with the insistence of his mother to make his own way in the world, Charles found his gift behind a piano keyboard. And soon he gained a reputation and a worldwide fame. He incorporated gospel, country, jazz and orchestral influences into his inimitable style. He played a good role in fighting against racial segregation in Georgia too.
Jamie Foxx got so far inside Ray Charles and his music that they seemed to breathe as one. He really deserved that Academy Award. And the fact that Foxx never actually sang the songs himself, but rather used recordings of the real Ray Charles singing, is just surprised me. You would never notice that!!!!!!!
The ending was boring in some moments but at the end this is a great movie, you should watch it at least to enjoy its great music.
