Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Rene V — 20 Nov 2012
Jake La Motta is like a tragic Greek story of a man of powerful rage and strength yet blinded by his sexual jealousy and messed up mentality send himself down a spiral of self-loathing and redemption that brings out the humanity in life where demons challenge us everyday, yet like a boxer, its just ourselves and the demon battling it out and hoping you turn out the winner.
Such a masterpiece by Scorsese who like Jake, was challenged by his demons and both turned out to have lived a better life. The cinematography and acting is superb as blood drenched the ropes after a fight.
A true underdog story of not boxing but being a better human being. My favorite movie of all time!
