Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Joe H — 17 Feb 2013
The film is well-made for sure. Scorsese is an artistic genius, but even his talent is not enough to make this film worth the pain and agony one has to undergo to experience it. Jake La Motta is such an animalistic scoundrel, there seems little point to a two hour movie about how he destroys himself over the course of twenty years.
Joe Pesci was the greatest thing about the film. He seems to have been born for Scorsese dialogue.
