Review of Rad (1986) by Jonathan B — 10 Aug 2012
Though most critics will nit pick about the movie's flaws, this movie stands out as a great example of small town 80s popular culture at it's best. BMX racing, perms, and catchy rock tunes make this a very memorable movie for any fan of the 80s.
The key thing that this movie does well is show off BMX racing and the culture surrounding it. The last race is just a BMX fan's dream showing off the sport in all it's glory. Very enjoyable movie but just remember, the plot is just filler to the music, hair, and bikes that make this movie what it is; It's nothing more and nothing less then an 80s popular culture movie about BMX racing and I frown upon anyone who watches this movie wanting it to be something other then what it is.
