Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Jim H — 20 Apr 2010
There are very few performances in film industry that we call 'performance of a lifetime'. Kym played by anne hathway is surely one of them. Directed by Joknathan Demme (Silence of the lamb if u could remember) story revolves around a marriage and a drug addict who is given a free time of two days to spend witrh her family.
Call it raw (thanks to handheld cinematography which works in movie's favor), film shows dysfunction within a family in a true light. The acting is superb and whether you like the filming style or not, there is raw emotion in this story which is more honest than most will be willing to admit.
Anne Hathaway should have definitely won oscar for this one rather than kate Winslate because the way anne has showed her emotions are speechless. Demme has taken amazing actors and carved their best performance.
Not a film for everyone because so many will not accept the annoying, nerve grating truth of an extremely dysfunctional family plus it doesnt have that fast screenplay which grabs your attention from first minute.
If you are a performance loving guy then this one is truly for you, if not pls dont even think of trying this one as it has nothing but amazing direction and very fine emotions. though 4 out of 5 for movie but 100 out of 10 for Anne Hathaway.
Amazing Actress!!!!
