Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Joseph H — 31 Jan 2011
'Rachel Getting Married' showcases Anne Hathaway's strongest dramatic performance to date. She gives the Kym character an air of vulnerability, self-centeredness, and instability that seems real and accessible enough that some can empathize with.
The film itself deals with the dysfunction of a family that tries suppressing inner turmoil on the eve of one their most important of family gathering, the wedding of Kym's sister Rachel. It is only when accountability is given to those involved can the road to recovery continue.
One of the best films of 2008 by far.
