Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Christopher M — 23 Jan 2011
Anne Hathaway does some amazing acting in this film as the recovering junkie Kym, complemented beautifully by the always radiant Rosemarie DeWitt as her sister Rachel. That scene where they start fighting and Rachel eventually reveals she was pregnant was just perfect.
I really loved how this film captures the complexities of Kym and Rachel's fractured family - the intermingling of love, pain, loss. This is how you make a family drama, Mano Po. Please take some notes.
And there's some beautiful camerawork here, too, taking you into one of the more colorful weddings in recent movie history.
