Review of Race (2016) by Keagan W — 21 Feb 2016
This movie was accurate. And by accurate I mean no detours, no beating around the bush. Exactly true not only to Jessie Owens story but very true to history. In a lot of period films similar to this they try to ignore the poverty and racism.
In Race there was a lot of racism. Which at times makes you cringe, but as I said earlier, this movie is accurate, you felt like you were living in the 1930's, you felt for those of color in the 30's, attacks on him and the Jews felt personal.
Seeing the Nazis felt like watching old propaganda footage, the horror of the Nazi regime felt real, like it was happening now. As a track and field athlete I can attest to the accuracy of the way way the sport was depicted, and you could tell the actor knew the proper form for the events he was doing.
Overall a very accurate and enjoyable movie.
