Review of Race (2016) by Dan H — 24 Feb 2017
The film was clearly made on a tight budget (CGI buildings?! Come on, guys), and the script is often stilted, but Jason Sudeikis and Stephan James give it their all and have some real chemistry together (Carice Van Houten gives a great supporting performance too).
The first two acts are fairly weak and not all that interesting, but once we get to the Olympics things start to really pick up. This is an important story, and a great film could certainly be made about it.
...unfortunately, Race isn't really that film. It's serviceable and definitely leaves you feeling pretty good, so I'd recommend it.
