Review of Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002) by Paul N — 15 Aug 2009
A heartrending story of what happened to half-caste (Aborigine/white) children from the 1930s until 1970 who were taken away from their mothers and put in settlements, to avoid a "new race" developing in the country.
This is a true story of 2 children, who by following the rabbit-proof fence for 1200 miles, managed to make their way back to their mother. If it was not a true story, one would find it unbelievable. I wonder how many nations even knew that this went on? The acting of the children is just fantastic.
