Review of Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002) by Lewis E — 01 May 2013
A moving story of a not well-publicised period of history. Very well acted and vividly portrays the children's sadness and their limitless efforts to return home. The film is limited however in consistently keeping a mild tone, since there were no thrilling moments such as any hunt scenes or powerful depictions of experiences in the camp.
Perhaps this was in an aim to keep it a PG which is fair enough as it would make a good film for school pupils to watch in class. Nonetheless, apart from the sympathy felt for these aboriginal children, 'Rabbit Proof Fence' does not interact with any other emotions.
