Really not the kind of film I expected to see from John Cameron Mitchell. This is a remarkably painful film about the way that the loss of someone close affects people not only in all encompassing ways, but in remarkably different ways.

They say that a lot of marriages do not survive the loss of a child, and this film is a remarkable illustration of why. The different ways that people deal with immense grief does not leave much space for dealing with each other.

I have been more an admirer than a fan of Mitchell's, but this leaves me eager to see what he does next.
