Review of Raajneeti (2010) by Ankush J — 03 Jun 2010
Honestly I was expecting a lot from this movie. Something as great as â??gangajalâ?? which was his last-best work. there was a soul in that movie â??sab pavittar kar dengeâ??!!
The movie is really too long. it almost felt like I am watching â??LOCâ?? once again. there were so many shots, u try to figure who just died there and how was he related to him? was he from this party or that party? or may be only I am as dumb as that. but seriously I didnâ??t get it for most of the times. or I was enjoying too much â??Chessâ?? on my cellphone.
I kept waiting for â??naseer bhaiâ?? to re-appear on screen. only he could have given some pun-ch to this movie, but alas he remains away from screen for his own good.
I didnâ??t knew that it was some kind of allegory to mahabharata. but not so soon into the movie, we started playing a game in the hall. guess which character of mahabharata is that actor.. ;-) .. well had to enjoy on a Friday!!
But even in the end, I donâ??t know why credits didnâ??t roll when climax shooting occurs. the â??krishnaâ?? tells â??arjunaâ?? to shoot. arjuna says â??they are armlessâ??.. and that moment how I wished and said â??now please donâ??t start orating GITA here pleaseâ??. And then someone in hall said â?? yada yada hi dharmasya..â?? :-p there was a laughter all oover the hall. :).
A scene definitely worth watching is one just b4 arjun rampal kills a police man with a base ball bat (BTW how did he get that in MP?)!! the way he enters really surprised me. heâ??s a good actor!
It was a meaningful exercise and waste of so many great talents, of so much money.
Of course everything was so grand, the rallies, the public, the background music, the flashy cars, car blasts, accidents, their homes, grand performances by almost everyone.
Nothing is worth in end if u havenâ??t got a soul. B-).
Prakash Jha has failed miserably in this attempt. And I am not going to discourage anyone from seeing it. after all its your money.
