Review of R-Point (2004) by Jon C — 28 Dec 2007
Had I not seen "Deathwatch" previous to this (another film about a group of soldiers stranded somewhere between realities) I might have liked it more. This is not a bad movie by any means, there are a few decent scares and the atmosphere is spooky and well-constructed.
These soldiers have a lot to deal with; an impending mortal threat, spectral soldiers, blood-oozing electronics, and their own suspicions about where they've ended up. Add a healthy dose of interpersonal strife and- Voila! Yer makin' horror.
My only wish is that it would have been more claustrophobic, like "Deathwatch", which I can't help but recommend in it's place.
