Review of R-Point (2004) by Tommy B — 01 Feb 2009
I bought and watched this in late 06. It was pretty good. And, it was interesting. What surprised and pleased me was that the director/producer(s) included African American soldiers in the characters. This would be a true representation of the racial makeup of the US dispatchment of minorities to fight in the costly, dubious conflict (don't get me wrong. I have lots of Vietnamese friends, lived in a Vietnamese home for 3 years, and dated Vietnamese, so I am NOT one of those people who says, " but I have lots of "*" friends>)...
Even more interesting to me is that I was totally ignorant of Korean (North and South) involvement in Vietnam during the time. Many countries sent troop assistance there, probably to "hone" their military combat effectiveness. I also learned from Silmido that SK had had troops in VN during the conflict..
