Review of Quiz Show (1994) by Jessica O — 03 Aug 2008
If I hadn't studied this in college I probably wouldn't have the opinion of it I do. The script is excellent - every bit of dialogue leading to something insightful about all the characters and the worlds they're from, all the actors are excellent and the direction brilliant. A really intelligent, subtley in-depth reading into human behaviourand environment. Rob Morrow and Ralph Fiennes have a great on-screen skewiff relationship, however,.
Again John Turturro is excellent - he may be my favourite underrated actor ever - and he does steal all the scenes he's in. In this age it's a timeless piece and the ending (albeit the whole message) should be as unsurprising as it is important.
