Review of Quills (2000) by Jennifer S — 31 Jan 2009
Quills is more a commentary on the consequences of censorship and self-denial than an accurate biopic of the Marquis de Sade. The acting is excellent, the writing is witty, and the cinematography captures the filth of the underbelly of France in the Revolution era.
One of my all-time favorite films.
