QUEEN OF THE DESSERT - Nicole Kidman plays Gertrude Bell, a British woman scholar ahead of her time. The movie is based on the true story of Bell (1856-1926) who was not satisfied to live the domestic life of most females of the day.
She was Oxford educated and spoke 6 languages. Bell traveled the world, particularly the middle east, as an adventurer, archaeologist, poet, spy & politician. I found the story of her relationships with men in power, from Churchill to King Faisel to Lawrence of Arabia, most fascinating.
She was unique, she was driven, she persisted.
