Review of Queen of the Damned (2002) by Charmer J — 17 May 2009
One of the nicest and darkest vampire movies I've seen! It tells the story of the legendary vampire Lestat. How he became a vampire, his life with his maker Marius, and his life after Marius left him and he became a rock star in the modern day. This movie also showed how being an immortal sucks. As I quote Lestat:
"There comes a time for every vampire when the idea of eternity becomes momentarily unbearable. Living in the shadows, feeding in the darkness with only your own company to keep, rots into a solitary, hollow existence. Immortality seems like a good idea, until you realize you're going to spend it alone.".
What I don't get exactly is the title "Queen of the Damned" when the movie mostly is about Lestat. But then, I never read the book so I really couldn't tell. :).
Nice portrayal of Stuart Townsend as Lestat. Cooler. Darker. Way, way better than Robert Pattinson who portrayed Edward Cullen in Twilight!
