I realize that film adaptations of books are by nature not going to have everything that the book has. But this one just flat out changed characters' motives and sides they aligned with. And that has nothing to do with the unfortunate and untimely death of Aaliyah.
It just was no where close to being faithful to the two Anne Rice novels it's based on.
