Review of Queen of the Damned (2002) by Carlos S — 26 Oct 2009
I watched this back to back with Interview with the Vampire and this is not as bad as I remember it being when it first came out. It is very different to the first film, but so are the book(s).
Townsend is pretty over the top here, but that works for the character, he's a vampire being a rock star, what is more over the top than that??
The film does suffer from a lack of budget, which does show up on screen, but there are images in it taken directly from the books such as the bar massacre and the throne room.
Overall, a stylish vampire film (the reflective eyes and vamp movements are very cool) trying to do a little too much with not a lot. Worth a look, and much better than emo vampires.
