Review of Quatermass and the Pit (1967) by Ricky M — 24 Mar 2008
An adaption of a BBC Quatermass serial by Nigel Kneale this makes for a really excellent film.
This begins a simple archelogical dig but soon begins to take in aliens, telekenesis, possible origin of man and religous views. This film cetainly is ambitous with its themes. And pull them off it does very well. Fair enough the effects look dated now but then some of the more overtly 60's aspects give it some of its more impressive moments. Quite thought provoking in places and rattles along at a fair old pace.
