Review of Quantum of Solace (2008) by Andy O — 18 Jan 2014
Ho-hum, I can't decide what I think of this. I generally enjoyed the experience overall, but the plot was a bit nonsensical at times - seeming to be action scene after action scene with a shabby plot holding it all together.
However, since I'm a fan of action I enjoyed that aspect of it - some people have complained about how 'Bourne-ified' this movie is, but as far as I'm concerned this is a good thing; Bond is supposed to be the ultimate secret agent and it's about time he got with the program instead of being a cheesy camp eye roller.
If the next one sorts out a decent plot and memorable villian then the 007 franchise could be on course for the kick in the arse it needs. This movie however, despite being a disappointment after the sublime Casino Royale, is still a fairly enjoyable action movie.
