Review of Pushing Tin (1999) by Mikey M — 12 Sep 2009
Not interesting and not funny - I seriously didn't even catch a whiff of a snigger during this. Sure, I could see the rivalry and delusion build, but I had difficulty actually seeing why anybody would ever want to make this film.
Cusack's protagonist is an absolute jerk-off and his nemesis (Billy Bob) is completely unfathomable. On top of that, Blanchett and Jolie are reduced to playing thin female seconds in this entirely male-centric guff.
Cusack is a fine actor, but I would have preferred to see his character stabbed in both eyes by the end - which is what I would do to myself if I knew I had to watch this movie again.
