Review of Pusher (1996) by Peter P — 08 Feb 2013
I watched this because I have become a fan of Nicolas Winding Refn as of late, (Drive was freaking brilliant, and Valhalla Rising is starkly beautiful) so I thought I would give some of his earlier work a chance.
So, Pusher is the story of a drug dealer having a really bad week, and how he handles trying to get out of trouble. Now most of the cast I have never seen before, with the exception of Mads Mikkelsen, who is a Nicolas Winding Refn regular and the Bond villain in Casino Royale, but for the most part they did fine, but I did find Pusher kinda slow, and maybe its because I have never done drugs, but I found the characters pretty hard to relate to.
With that I think it is worth watching if you like these type of movies, but I will be fine never seeing it again, or watching the two sequels it spawned and the North American remake.
