Review of Pursuit of Happyness (2005) by Matt M — 29 Oct 2013
Gabriele Muccino's English language debut film is a Capraesque tale about a down and out man trying to look after his young son whilst finding himself homeless and in the process of building himself a better future.
The film's charm is generally outweighed by is sloppiness and sugarcoating. Even stylistically, it feels like too much of a vehicle for Will Smith, who turns in a good performance acting alongside his own real life son.
