I was never interested in this when it came out. It was just on tv when I didn't feel motivated to do anything else. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it. Will Smith is an amazing actor, and whoever wrote this got how soul crushing the pursuit can be. But the happy ending wasn't a big enough pay off. I don't feel less soul crushed.
It gets an extra star because I expected "mom left because of me" and appreciated "mom left because of mom". as somebody whose mom left, that line meant something to me.
