Review of Purple Rain (1984) by Bruno L — 26 Jan 2010
Prince's film debut is a fun film whose story is as thin as a sheet of tracing paper, but the music is soul-possessing, and a lot of the cinematography is beautiful to behold. Prince plays a musician who is struggling to make it in life, love, and his music.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. When you're jamming to "Let's Go Crazy", "When Doves Cry", and "Purple Rain", though, you don't care about the plot. A film to watch over and over again.
