Review of Purple Rain (1984) by Ashley H — 13 Jan 2008
When this film first came out, a lot of people were excited about the fact that it was Prince's big screen debut. However, when I first saw this film I didn't see what the big deal was. The story was thin and Prince showed that he was a much better musician than actor.
The performance that really stood out was Morris Day. Day showed that he was a good comic actor and this led to several jobs after this film. Real strength of this was the soundtrac, which happens to be one of the greatest albums ever.
