Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Classic C — 25 Jun 2010
This reboot is awesomely over-the-top and brilliantly ridiculous. With some great, old-school action, Punisher: War Zone offers an exciting ride despite your initial thoughts on the film. Ray Stevenson shows up and does his job well and fits the role of Frank Castle fine.
Dominic West shines as the entertaining and very cool looking Jigsaw at the start of the film, but then runs out of charisma. And it was nice to see Wayne Knight, Newman from Seinfeld, make and appearance as Linas "Microchip" Lieberman.
Even though I've never seen the first attempt at the Punisher series, I'm sure it isn't nearly as bad-ass as this one! A surprisingly enjoyable, over-the-top fun movie to watch at least once.
