Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Keri C — 20 Apr 2010
Marvel's third crack at bringing The Punisher to the big screen, after the 1989 Dolph Lundgren and 2004 Thomas Jane versions, sees Ray Stevenson (of TV's Rome) step into the iconic skull tshirt.
The Punisher: War Zone is by far the best big screen version we have seen so far. It's trash, but trash of the highest order. If you've ever wanted to see a comic book brought to life, in all it's gory, violent, over-the-top splendor, then this film is for you.
Heads explode, limps are hacked off, everyone talks in exaggerated accents; it's great. It's the most enjoyment i've had watching a film in a long while. There's a crazy villain called Jigsaw with a deformed face, Newman from Seinfeld is in it, someones gets a hole punched in their face.
I've literally just described the best film in the world. Watch it.
