Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by James A — 29 Jun 2010
It was surprising to me, since I was never a fan of the Punisher comics, that I liked this movie so much. Surpassing my expectations, "Punisher: War Zone" is a dark, stylish, ultra-violent, and very entertaining superhero/action movie.
In fact, this film goes right below "The Dark Knight" as my favorite superhero movie. "Punisher: War Zone" is surprisingly competent, with fast and exciting shoot-outs, punctuations of funny dialogue, and even some moments for the characters to develop.
Frank Castle, played by Ray Stevenson, is especially well developed as a torn and tortured man. I found it very refreshing for an action movie to actually spend some time developing it's characters, and giving them depth.
I strongly recommend "Punisher: War Zone" for anyone looking for an exciting and well-done action movie, however be warned, as this is a dark and very, very violent superhero movie.
