Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Matthew K — 04 Aug 2012

Better than the film starring Lundgren as the Punisher, though not by much. The gore is over-the-top and disgusting, the action is over-the-top and campy, and the characters are very poorly designed. Even for an action film, these characters are pretty weak.

Some say that this is true to the source material... it's not. It's really not. Whoever wrote the script missed the point of the character. The death of Castle's family is just an afterthought, and doesn't seem to bother him that much except when the script wants him to.

It's fun on a first viewing, but repeat viewings are not kind to this one.
