Review of PTU (2003) by David N — 04 Nov 2007
What Election does for the triads, PTU does for the police. The camerawork is excellent, the script picture-esque (if a little cheesy), and everything about this movie is badass. However, where this movie falls is the quality and direction by Johnny To. This is near the time Johnny To began to mature in his directing and while his work here is above his earlier films, everything still feels rough around the edges and if he had put forth the same effort as he did with Election or Breaking News, then I feel PTU would've been immensely better.
Still a good film, either way.
