Hitchcock occasionally wrong-foots himself, notably at the very end with a frankly ludicrous scene involving a psychiatrist. There is however no denying that Psycho remains an inherently creepy milestone thriller with artistic cinematography and a brilliant performance by Anthony Perkins.
