Review of Psycho (2007) by Del H — 09 Sep 2015
Slasher directors have been trying to repeat the all out excellence of Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece for the most part to no avail. This is how horror should be done. Instead of throwing us head first into terror and gore, Hitchcock uses an eerie score by Bernard Herrmann and slowly crawling suspense to keep the pace pitch perfect.
He is a conductor who fans his scares with a validated panache and a cutting eye to aberrant psychology. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
