Review of Prozac Nation (2003) by Matthew B — 04 Sep 2008
WOW. Painfully in-depth portrayal of a person always on the brink. A portrayal like this is exactly why Ricci is one of my favorite actors working today. Her character is intensely complex, dealing with a range of emotional, social, spiritual, and (of course) physical issues that require her to enact drastic mood swings, bitter & hateful dialogue, and, on occasion, tender moments of self-realization and earnest grasping for human connection.
Really brilliant performances. Felt it in my gut.
