Review of Prowl (2010) by David L — 03 Sep 2012

Another one of those annoying films which sucks you in via its trailer, only for us to then find out that the trailer was in fact the best part about the film. Started promisingly enough, the usual band of teenagers venturing on a road trip involving some drink drugs, and a sexually fuelled game of truth or dare! Usual eventualities then occur what with the car breaking down, seemingly hospitable passer by then offering lift, only for him then to turn out to be a pawn in what is a crazed twist of fate for the now drunken teens.

Literally within the space of 5 mins, half of the group are then killed off by some weird zombie like flesh eaters, without so much as a fight, with the remaining members subsequently being captured soon after.

Half the fun of classic horrors is in the chase of the kill but that is non-existent here. Unfortunately I'd struggle to list any redeeming features that this film did go on to then possess as the story eventually reveals itself to be about a group of orphaned vampires who are fed humans in order to maintain their race - totally random, and extremely pointless! As expected, there was the usual ending twist which was at least consistent with the quality of the rest of the film I.

E. poor! I'm not the greatest fan of vampire movies as it is and this has done nothing to alter my opinion, only strengthen it!
