Review of Promising Young Woman (2020) by Drlynnkk — 15 Feb 2021
I would say 90% of this movie is amazing. I greatly admire the writing and the aesthetic of this film. Carey Mulligan gives a riveting performance as the wounded and vengeful woman. I was not 100% convinced by the ending, but when a friend compared it to "Killing Eve" it made more sense. (Fennel worked on Killing Eve.).
My one complaint is that Laverne Cox was underused as the friend/co-worker. More could have been mined from that relationship.
However, the casting was so spot on and the story was, unfortunately, all too familiar. I urge everyone to see this movie then discuss it widely.
I look forward to seeing what Fennel does next.
