Review of Promised Land (2012) by Sam S — 10 Jan 2013
1/7/2013 I'm always excited to see the latest Gus Van Sant film. This one works as a straightforward drama because of the performances and a bit of unpredictability. I also appreciate that it offers two sides to its core issue.
Frances McDormand and Hal Holbrook are the standouts. Van Sant uses extended shots of the people and scenery of rural Pennsylvania which adds a nice touch of authenticity.
