Matt Damon's ability as an actor and co-writer to put you on the side of a morally ambiguous character is what makes the far too simplistic (if awkwardly "twisted") ending disappointing. If he hadn't been so interesting for the first hour-plus maybe the last thirty minutes would have played better.
