Review of Promised Land (2012) by Alfin N — 10 Feb 2013
A very well written, beautifully directed, superbly acted film. Contrary to the surprising number of dunderheaded remarks that call this film "anti-fracking propaganda"... it actually honors the complexity of the issue and doesn't try to answer it one way or the other.
The fact of the matter is that PRO-frackers generally underplay the risks and ANTI-frackers generally underplay the benefits. The reality is that IT'S COMPLICATED because there are BOTH great benefits and extreme risks! This film attempts to demonstrate that reality with intelligence and imagination.
And it's VERY ENTERTAINING... if you're lenses aren't clouded up with nonsense about propaganda.
