Review of Promised Land (2012) by Jordan T — 02 Jun 2013
Capra in spirit, but a little too dour and flighty to support a drastic shift in the narrative at the beginning of the third act. The movie tries but struggles to make a big impact as it tries to be too even-keeled and unbiased. Seems the creators were just too scared to make big waves.
As usual, Damon anchors the movie with a likeable performance; contrary to the fact that viewers are supposed to dislike the character.
Hard material, tackled lightly and delivered competently. No more; no less.
