Review of Promised Land (2012) by Dave L — 22 Jul 2013
For the first hour and twenty minutes, "Promised Land" looks like a pretty stellar drama brimming with solid performances from Matt Damon, John Krasinski and Frances McDormand. Then, the final act comes and the film veers wildly into unbelievable territory.
A real shame. I just did not buy the ending even if the intentions were good. Just a few slight changes to the arc of characters and they could have really had something here. It doesn't deserve some of the critical lampooning but should have been better given the talent involved.
