Review of Project Nim (2011) by Scott F — 02 Jul 2012
I deliberately postponed watching this film as I suspected the material would be upsetting. And I was right. It's a film that leaves you fuming and quite pessimistic about human beings in general, and scientists in particular, whose lethal cocktail of arrogance and stupidity results in the unbearable cruelty towards species perceived as sub-human.
It boggles the mind to think that these people are so academically gifted, yet complete idiots when it comes to anything "non-rational" such as human or inter-species relationships. The humans in the film compete for who is the most self-absorbed and egotistical while the extraordinary creature at the centre is slowly destroyed by incompetence and vanity.
