Review of Prizzi's Honor (1985) by Cassie H — 25 May 2009
As dark, thick, and slimy as crude oil, oozing with cynicism and heartbreak. If you are expecting a laugh-out-loud comedy, you are not going to get it. This is one of those films that is full of awkward, ironic, or downright cruel moments that you often cannot deal with without smirking, and mercilessly parodies the genre.
The ensemble cast is a dream, with William Hickey and Anjelica Huston in particular shining. The score is a perfect soundtrack of Italian cliches, the production design is top-notch, and Huston's costumes are iconic.
